Informative Speech
I found Jeffrey's speech very interesting. He had a very good attention getter, which he tied in again at the end. His topic on making the internet more green affects everyone. I liked how he moved to different parts of the room for when he moved on and on from his main points. He was also very good with making eye contact. The only downfall was that he spoke very quickly.

Desert Island
I chose Martin Luther King Jr. as the public speaker I would most like to bring with me on a desert island. I believe that he has a lot of guts to speak out about what he believes in during the time he did. Like he, I believe in equality for all people and if it wasn't for him, our world wouldn't be what it is today.

Childhood Moment
One thing I remember truly loving to do in my childhood was going to my grandmother's house every Sunday. Even though I never liked going to church when I was small because I couldn't sit still, I looked forward to going to her house after. She would make an awesome home cooked meal and always had a bunch of fun toys for me to play with after. I also loved her dog and enjoyed the company of my whole family. My favorite time to go over there was the fall, because she would make a huge leaf pile for me to jump in and everyone would take pictures of me. As I grew older, I still loved visiting, even though I didn't have time to do it as much. She began to teach me how to cook, even though I never did very well. I always loved the comfort of having a great family.

Beacon Article: Long Distance Love
I recently read the article "Long Distance Love" about couples finding ways to celebrate Valentine's Day apart. Three different couples in long distance relationships were mentioned. I give them a lot of credit because I know that I would most likely never be able to make a relationship across four states work, let alone across many countries. One of the couples are spending this Sunday together, while the other two are compromising and having their own Valentine's Day at a different time.

Dalton Sherman
Dalton Sherman made his speech emotional by involving the audience, which was the Dallas, Texas School District. He used an engaging and confident tone of voice. He was very loud and emotional while speaking and continuously repeated the phrase, "Do you believe in me?" He made the point that every person in the school district has a purpose. Everyone needs to believe in themselves and in each other. He also thanked everyone for what they did for him and so many of his classmates, getting him to where he is today.

Famous Public Speaker: Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was a famous public speaker, author, and reformer. He is a very prominent figure in African American and United States history. He was a firm believer in equality and showed this through many different speeches and writings. Douglass had a rough life growing up. He was born a slave and was separated from his mom as an infant. After much inspiration, especially from attending the American Anti-Slavery Society's meetings, Douglass sailed to England to continue to speak for what he believed in safely and publically. He also helped with the Underground Railroad and joined the first black unit to be formed for the Union.
Douglass was a very inspirational speaker because he still spoke for what he believed in even though there was much controversy back in this time. I believe, like him, that all people should be treated equally no matter the religion or race. Not only did he speak about what he believed in, but he also acted on it in many different ways, which takes a lot of courage.

Tom Friedman "World is Flat"
This speech made it clear to me about how much and how quickly the world is changing. I found his UPS story very interesting. It is amazing that if you need a computer fixed it almost never reaches the place where it was actually made. Also, I think it's amazing how many jobs are outsourced to distant places. This is true because it is very rare to find a tag that says "Made in USA." I found Tom Friedman very easy to follow while speaking because he seemed very knowledgable and confident about his topic. He made his speech a whole bunch of small stories which kept the audience engaged.
